How do I find the correct value?

Distance = Image width × Ratio
Image width = Distance / Ratio
Ratio = Distance / Image width

Glossary

f-STOP
f stands for 'focal length'. The ratio of focal length to the aperture. Zoom lenses often have two values. Large apertures are described with small numbers and the small apertures with large numbers. A lens with a lower f-number lets more light through.

IMAGE THROW RATIO
Also projection ratio, ratio, throw. It gives the ratio of the projection distance to the image width. The multiplication of the number by the screen width is the distance between the projector and the screen. Therefore the width of the screen can be calculated if you divide the distance to the screen by the number. If two numbers are given (e.g.: 1.5-2.5:1), this means the projector has a zoom lens and the ratio can be changed within the specified range.
