Distance = Image width x Ratio
Image width = Distance / Ratio
Ratio = Distance / Image width

Glossary

f-number
f stands for „focal length“ (Brennweite). Ratio of focal length to aperture. Zoom lenses often have two values. The large diaphragms are described with small numbers and the small diaphragms with large numbers. A lens with a lower f-number lets more light through.

Throw ratio
Also called projection ratio, ratio, throw. It is the ratio of the projection distance to the image width. The product of the ratio with the screen width is the distance between projector and screen. Therefore the width of the screen can be calculated if you divide the distance to the screen by the ratio. If two numbers are given (e.g.: 1.5-2.5:1), this means that the projector has a zoom lens and the ratio can be altered within the specified range.

Screen size (diagonal)
Distance between two diagonally opposite corners.

Aspect ratio
Aspect ratio that depicts the relationship of the width to the height

Image resolution
Number of image points (pixels) of the width and height of an image: e.g. 1920×1080
