Glossary

f-number
f stands for „focal length“ (Brennweite). The ratio of the focal length to the aperture. Zoom lenses often have two values. The large apertures are described with small numbers and the small apertures with large numbers. A lens with a lower f-number lets more light through.

Throw ratio
Also called projection ratio, Ratio, Throw. It is the ratio of the projection distance to the image width. The multiplication of the number with the screen width is the distance between projector and screen. Therefore the width of the screen can be calculated if you divide the distance of the screen by the number. If two numbers are given (e.g.: 1.5-2.5:1), this means the projector has a zoom lens and the ratio can be varied within the specified range.

Number of image points (pixels) of the width and height of an image: e.g. 1920×1080
