Glossary

f-Number
f stands for 'focal length'. Ratio of focal length to aperture. Zoom lenses often have two values. The larger apertures are described with small numbers and the smaller apertures with large numbers. A lens with a lower f-number lets more light through.

Throw Ratio
Also called projection ratio, ratio, throw. It expresses the ratio of the projection distance to the image width. Multiplying this number by the screen width gives the distance between projector and screen. Therefore the width of the screen can be calculated by dividing the distance to the screen by the ratio. If two numbers are given (e.g.: 1.5-2.5:1), this means the projector has a zoom lens and the ratio can be changed within the specified range.

Number of picture elements (pixels) of the width and height of an image: e.g. 1920×1080
